About Me

kchristmas-2

Creating fiber art through quilting allows me to stretch my artistic talents with all the possibilities of fabric while also enjoying the calming, meditative effects of stitching. I capture moments in time—a flower at the height of its bloom or the split second when an animal is still.

I am a trained graphic designer who spent more than 20 years in the art and design world, eventually co-owning a successful advertising agency for 16 years.  I have always loved creating with fabric and began sewing when I was young.  My sister, Patty, gave me my first sewing machine for Christmas when I was 12 years old.  At first, I made clothes for Barbie dolls, and as I gained more experience, I began making my own clothes.  Thanks, Patty!

I studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and received an Associate in Applied Science in Fashion Design.  Then, I attended Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design.

In 2001, I discovered art quilting.  It was my hobby until 2013 when I decided to leave the advertising industry and become a full-time fiber artist and quilter.  I create quilts using wholecloth painting or raw edge appliqué. I then thread paint the quilt to bring it to life.   My quilts have been juried into local and national quilt shows.

So who is this artist who never thought she would become a quilter?  I am a native Southerner who lives in North Carolina with my wonderful husband and three kitty cats.  I love old movies, a glass of good wine, spending time in the mountains, and exploring new restaurants.  Oh, and I also love spending as much time in my studio as possible creating quilts!
